Contexte et Origine du Projet :L’économie du Burkina Faso repose sur le secteur agro-sylvo-pastoral qui contribue fortement au PIB national et occupe plus de 90% de la population active. Cependant, ce secteur est soumis régulièrement aux effets de la variabilité et du changement climatique tels que les sécheresses et les inondations qui affectent négativement la performance de l’économie nationale limitant ainsi le développement socio-économique du pays.

1.1 Conformément aux objectifs et missions assignées à l’Office Riz de Ségou (ORS), et vu la nécessité de planifier de manière concertée et durable son action dans sa zone d’intervention, il a initié un projet de développement intégré et de résilience climatique des populations dans les Plaines du Delta 2 (PDIR – PD2, le projet). La conception du projet repose sur la mise en eau des plaines afin de permettre la mise en valeur durable des abondantes ressources en terres.

Mobilisation of surface water and strengthening of capacities in integrated water resources management

April 2012 - The Government of Cape Verde has received a € 1.4 million grant to finance a study that will look at ways to better mobilise and store surface water resources through the construction of dams. The grant will also be used to strengthen the legal framework for integrated water resources management. This will help Cape Verde deal with increased water pressure on the groundwater resources, and build water security for all uses.

Improvement of waste management in Grand-Nokoué as part of a public-private partnership

January 2013- The Municipality of Seme-Podji received a € 1.1 million grant to finance the rehabilitation and improvement of waste management in Grand-Nokoue . This is expected to improve the lives and living conditions of the people of Grand-Nokoue, reducing the spread of water borne diseases, while making good use of the waste collected for treatment and reused as fertilizer sold to farmers at a competitive price.

TREND Improved sanitation and water supply services

September 2009 - TREND (Training, Research and Networking for Development), a local NGO, received a €2 million grant to strengthen sector capacity for planning and delivery of pro-poor WASH services in urban areas through tripartite partnerships approaches involving the public, private and NGO sectors and to increase access to water supply and sanitation in the three pilot areas of Ashaiman, Mankessim and Huni Valley via the construction of infrastructure.

ORIGINE DU PROJET: Le sous-secteur de l’assainissement au Togo a été négativement impacté par la suspen-sion de la coopération au développement, consécutive aux troubles socio-politiques des an-nées 1990 à 2005. L’accès des ménages aux toilettes a ainsi régressé de 37 % en 1990 à 34,9 % en 2010 (MICS, 2010). La Région centrale, dont la capitale administrative est Sokodé, s’est signalée par un taux de couverture plus faible (26,1 %), et des taux de prévalence de maladies d’origine hydrique des plus élevés.

Fostering innovative sanitation and hygiene in Monrovia

January 2013 – The Monrovia City Corporation received a € 1.2 million grant to increase access to sustainable and affordable sanitation services with improved hygiene and livelihood for Monrovia’s urban poor. The specific objectives include increase access to safe, sustainable and affordable sanitation services; reduce the vulnerability of the urban poor populace to WASH related diseases caused by water contamination; implement an effective, efficient and sustainable fecal sludge management system with production of affordable fecal sludge fertilizer to increase food security.
